Evolutive genetics and phylogeography

We investigated the geographic distribution of genetic diversity within and between phylogenetically related species to understand the evolutionary forces creating and maintaining the enormous biodiversity in Neotropics.

Our work focuses (but is not restricted to) on species associated with areas of open or dry vegetation in South America, such as cactus. We use genomics, bioinformatics, population genetics, taxonomy, and wildlife sampling techniques in phylogeographic, conservation genetics, and phylogenetic studies.
